Garthwait’s storytelling career began on the stage. She segued her theatrical career into co-founding the award-winning San Francisco-based film production company, GG Films.

Early on, Garthwait was infused by the power of story. Stories erupted in the world of social and political justice. The stories attracted participants from around the world: Nobel Peace Laureates, A-list actors and musicians (Harrison Ford, Julia Roberts, Sting, Radio Head, etc.) The end results: political prisoner releases, creation of international campaigns, and the realization that the story is never finished.

Garthwait, past board member of Committee of 100 for Tibet, teamed with Markovich & Griffin in the creation of Discover the Dalai Lama, a multi-media living history project.
