StoryCats Consulting is committed to aligning its strategies and deliverables for The Coral Champions Indonesia project with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

• SDG 13 – Climate Action: addressing the urgent need for scalable solutions to mitigate the impacts of ocean warming.
• SDG 14 – Life Below Water: emphasizing the protection and restoration of marine ecosystems, particularly coral reefs, which are critical to biodiversity and coastal livelihoods.
• SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: fostering collaboration with key stakeholders such as the OK OCE Foundation

• SDG 1 – No poverty: creating local, on-going, well-paid training and jobs.
• SDG 2 – Zero Hunger: understanding healthy reefs are the nurseries of the ocean. These reefs grow and attract more fish hence creating better opportunities for fishing and feeding families.
• SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being: addressing jobs, food and healthy local environments.
• SDG 4 – Quality Education: providing education and training to identify, test, grow, plant, monitor, and protect coral.
• SDG 5 – Gender Equality: creating training and job opportunities for people of all ages and genders.
• SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation: learning that the cleaner the ocean and river waters the better the chance for a healthy reef. This clean water significantly benefits people and animals living and depending on it.
• SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth: developing well-paid, ongoing jobs as a key component of this project. Additional opportunities for economic growth exist in spin-off businesses such as eco-resorts, tourist economies, boat rentals, food carts and restaurants, fish sales, etc.
• SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure: implementing the highly effective Palumbi Coral Regeneration Method. Look at this as Coral Gardening 2.0, as it moves beyond current techniques.
• SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities: creating local jobs and a healthy reefs allows communities to thrive and reduce village inequalities.
• SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities: creating good jobs heavily contributes to the creation of strong communities.
• SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production: learning how the reef and its inhabitants live and thrive will lead to more responsible protection and use of this precious resource.
The commitment to align with the overall intent of UN SDGs allows the project to mesh with the goals being advanced by the Indonesian government.



Building a coral nursery – Palau
Jobs are the key to the project. These guiding principles work to ensure that the project not only delivers measurable environmental benefits, but also creates a range of microentrepreneurial jobs.
